FC BARCELONA

Futbol Club Barcelona was founded in 1899 by a group of footballers led by Hans Gamper who is better known as Joan Gamper. It all started when Joan Gamper placed an advertisement declaring that he wanted to form a football club. Eleven players attended the meeting from the ad and Futbol Club Barcelona was born. In 1908 he became the club president in order to save the club. At the time the club was not winning much trophies and was suffering financially and socially with the city of Barcelona. With Joan Gamper as the president Barcelona was able to acquire its own stadium and establish a steady income. Gamper led FC Barcelona to win eleven Campionats de Catalunya, six Copa del Rey, and four Pyrenees Cups. It was marked as the club's first "Golden Age."

I actually did not begin watching Barcelona play until when specifically Ronaldinho, the Brazilian winger, started to play there. At the time he was the best player in the world and respectively won the Balon d'Or in 2005. One of the best memories I have of him is when he scored a brace at the Santiago Bernabeu against their main rivals Real Madrid and some Madrid fans stood up and applauded him for the amazing performance he had done that day. Another great memory I have is when he scored this overhead kick against Villareal in 2006. But then Ronaldinho's gameplay started to lack due to his fitness and constant partying. So when the team hired a new manager Pep Guardiola, he decided to build the team around other players instead of Ronaldinho.
